Our Review

David Bowie has been one of rock music’s most versatile performers, reinventing himself every few years for the sake of personal and spiritual renewal. His long career gives him an impeccable catalog to choose from. His expert sidemen — guitarist Earl Slick, bassist Gail Ann Dorsey — mean these tunes are delivered at maximum force. They come from his 2003-2004 World Tour, during which he suffered a heart attack in Germany that has slowed his career considerably, and include ferocious renditions of old-school classics such as “Rebel, Rebel,” “Fame,” “All The Young Dudes” (the Mott the Hoople hit he wrote) and “Ashes to Ashes,” alongside tracks from his then-current album Reality that show a rejuvenated Bowie with updated glam rockers like “New Killer Star,” “Reality” and the slow dance of “Bring Me The Disco King.” It’s a big sound with Bowie in great voice. The stage gives him an energy he puts to good use as he cruises through his career, stopping at such highlights as “Sister Midnight,” “China Girl,” “Under Pressure” and “The Man Who Sold The World” with a strong urge to fight still in his star-dazzled delivery.

Welcomed live album (5 stars)

It's another live collection but it's from an amazing tour. The classic tunes sound refreshed & the newer ones fit right in. It goes without saying that we'd like to hear some new material but how cool is it that we have an official release of db doing "Sister Midnight" in a high energy, spirited show. Thanks to iTunes for releasing a nice comprehensive version that incluldes 1 version of every song performed over these 2 ni

Finally! (5 stars)

Been waiting on this one for a while now, but fortunately it is a complete collection with 35 songs – thanks! Just waiting for more new material and another tour from db. The only thing that would have made it better would have been for this to be an iTunes LP.

Fantastic (5 stars)

First of all, the album is a bargain: 33 songs on the double CD, none of which are really filler, and the selection bridges Bowie's career from around 1970 until the 2003 "Reality" album. Indeed, if I were suggesting a Bowie primer to a new listener, I think I'd start here. This is a nice, tight, varied selection, and the sound quality is excellent.

Biography

Born: January 08, 1947 in Brixton, London, England
Genre: Rock
Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

The cliché about David Bowie says he's a musical chameleon, adapting himself according to fashion and trends. While such a criticism is too glib, there's no denying that Bowie demonstrated remarkable skill for perceiving musical trends at his peak in the '70s. After spending several years in the late '60s as a mod and as an all-around music-hall entertainer, Bowie reinvented himself as a hippie singer/songwriter. Prior to his breakthrough in 1972, he recorded a proto-metal record and a pop/rock album,…
